Nights like these, I go for a drive and park up at this look out where I can see the whole city. Something about cityscapes at night have always calmed me, the same with pictures of outer space and planet Earth. Anyway, I sit there and I look at all the lights and something about feeling like nothing is so liberating. I’m just a tiny little light in a giant ocean of them. Same with graveyards. Thousands of tombstones with names of people. All their pain and struggle in life, reduced to a hole in the ground with a rock over it. Isn’t that soothing? That all our problems really don’t have any sway upon the natural order? You could spend all your money tomorrow, steal a car or whatever you’ve ever dreamed of but no matter what you try to do, you were born and you will die and those are the only certainties in it all. Just a little light in a giant ocean, waiting to go out.
